NASHVILLE, Tenn. –
A new west Nashville eatery found themselves on the culinary map in just eight days.
At first glance, Hillwood Pub might look like any other sports bar and restaurant, but head chef Kelly Weatherford said they take standard ingredients and give them a little push.
“I get to showcase some of my mom’s recipes, and it’s just good,” Weatherford said.
While they are just a few weeks old, Hillwood Pub has accomplished something many neighborhood pubs dream of. They won the award for best wings at the Music City Hot Wing Festival last week.
Chef Weatherford told News 2 they have a secret seasoning that has to be locked away that they use for their wings that give them a unique flavor.
Area Manager Todd Verhoven said Hillwood Pub is a family friendly place and is already making a splash in the neighborhood.
“A lot of people are saying this is what this neighborhood was missing. They’re coming in, and they love the food,” Verhoven said.
Verhoven added it’s also a local pub with a local heart as Hillwood Pub chooses to support local breweries.
“We’ve got the staples, but we’ve got a lot of locals from local breweries because we want to support them. They support us in a lot of ways and we like to help them. It’s some of the best beer around,” Verhoven explained.
Not only is much of the menu at Hillwood Pub unique, the pizza’s served have some unique names as well. They’re all taken from street names in the nearby Charlotte Park neighborhood.
Hillwood Pub also offers a large brunch menu.
The new pub is open Sunday through Thursday from 11 a.m. to 11:45 p.m. and from 11 a.m to Midnight on Friday and Saturday.
